Automation of the technical fibre winding process on spool to reduce length tolerance below 2 m and lower cycle time by up to 50%. Servo capstan and pre-tension system maintain the required length tolerance. Gantry simultaneously loads wound and unwound spools into position for rapid operations. Twine grippers and interconnected bobbins enable operational continuity. The system is compatible with multiple fibre varieties with diameters ranging between 0.5 mm and 2 mm.

Customer Requirements

  • Improve accuracy by reducing tolerance to below 2 m.
  • Reduce cycle time from 40 seconds without pre-winding to 30 seconds with pre-winding.
  • Automate a manual process.
  • Maintain less than 5 N tension in fibre during winding.
  • Compatibility with thread diameters ranging between 0.5 and 2 mm.
  • Operational continuity.

Cybernetik Solution

  • Fibre length control via servo capstan and pre-tension system that maintains tolerance up to 2 m.
  • Initial fibre spooling through the pre-winding system.
  • The assembly feeds the required fibre length and cuts it thereafter.
  • High speed operations via:
Gantry simultaneously loads unwound spool at winding spindle and wound spool at unloading trolley.
    Induction motor.
  • Operational continuity through:
    Twine gripper for inter-cycle continuity.
    Multiple, interconnected bobbins.
